| Prairie Village Art Fair in Kansas City |
 |
|
We are traveling to Kansas City this week for the
Prairie
Village Art Show May 31- June 2. I
was very grateful to be one of 90 artists
chosen from the 600 that applied to this
national juried show. In celebration, I
created this painting "Goin' to Kansas
City" with some
great input about the area
from resident artist Laura
Nugent, who will also be exhibiting.
If you are curious about my
painting process you can get a peek here.
I look forward to lots of
sketching from the road on our journey down,
and reconnecting with all my Kansas City
collectors and friends!

I've spent the last few months creating a
small fleet trucks...AND a bus and a
helicopter! Among them, a milk
truck, cement truck and a container truck. I
still have plenty of glazing to do, some will
have to wait for the fall when my class at
Lill
Street
resumes..others in the kiln, stay tuned! See
detailed photos of my
trucks and more on my Flickr
page or under the CLAY
Category on my BLOG.

Meet Deb LeAir, a talented clay artist and
wonderful friend...we met at an art fair in
Oak Park back in the mid 90's when we were
both starting out in the business. Visit DebLeAir.com
to see more of her extraordinary carved clay
sculptures, vessels and tiles, and to learn
more about her
process and back woods earthy inspiration.

Exciting New Series of Paintings & Travels this Summer! |
|
|
|
I've been working with Road Trip imagery for
years
but I'm now newly inspired and and working in a
different way. My new series is based on
images that I create in my sketchbook
while
on the road (with my trusty driver, Rich). I'm
really excited about this new direction,
ironically I'm also making trucks in clay
so
I seem to be fully immersed in the
Transportation Theme. The
featured painting above: "65
South" started out in my sketch book
last fall on the way down to Alabama for the Kentuck
Art Fair (...it's even
sweeter
when the art is created en route to a show).
See more paintings in my updated
Narrative
Painting Gallery at AnnesArt.com.
I should have plenty more inspiration on my
upcoming summer Art
Fair travels which will take me
to Kansas City, back to Oregon, IL for the
Fields
Project,
to Minneapolis, Milwaukee and more...See my full
2008
Schedule (check back for updates as
some shows are still pending). You are always
welcome to check in and see what I'm up to on my
recently revamped Blog, I so appreciate
reader comments!
And for my local Chicago Collectors..I'll be
back in
time to exhibit at the upcoming 57th
Street Community Art Fair
June 7 and 8th. Hope to see you there!
